It was a small team, but the East Algarve Walking Football Women’s team (EAWWF) was proud of how it performed at Browns.
The competition amongst the six women’s teams was close. Of the six teams only one finished with more points than EAWWF, who were one of the three teams tied on points in second place. The team held its own and was competitive in all bar one match despite only having 5 players (who were pretty bruised and battered by the end of day 2), a new but fantastically efficient manager and a substitute who really wasn’t that keen on getting on the pitch but held her own when she was needed.
Sadly, no silverware from the play off but the improvement in comparison with previous tournaments is noticeable. The passing and movement off the ball was better and the improvement was even commented upon by our opposition. So we are happy with the positives and have identified some areas to work on.
Thanks to the men who stopped by when able to provide some support and encouragement. It’s what being part of a club is all about.
Bring on the next tournament!
